Welcome to April's newsletter which reports on auction activity in March 2010 and other related periods.
Despite the overall success rate dipping slightly to 69%, March 2010 proved a strong month as the number of lots offered and the total amounts realised both saw significant increases when compared with March 2009. The commercial sector in particular shows real signs of strength and returning market confidence, as total receipts increased on monthly, quarterly and yearly comparisons.

National Auction Analysis
As mentioned above, March 2010 produced a strong set of results for the auction market. Lots offered rose by almost 20% when compared to March 2009, and subsequently the amounts raised increased by 43% to over £353 million. Quarterly analysis shows an increase of 10% in totals realised to over £711 million, and this can be mainly attributed to the vast increases seen in the commercial market.
